Army, fitness, traveling, wine collecting & tasting, climbing mountains, rescuing people from the mountains, skiing, drowning in the (school) books, taking pictures of everything, enjoying the life to the fullest, …. that pretty much summarizes our daily life up here on The Last Frontier.

My husband Jason and I, Nina, live just outside of Anchorage with our furry kid – a wonderful, mischievous beagle Tassu. The dog keeps us on our toes all the time, as well as is the source of endless fun and enjoyment. You really can’t have a bad day when you see the little beagle stretching in the sun, or sleeping closer than close to you!

Originally I am a small town girl from Europe but years spent all over the world have made me an adventure-seeker who loves seeing new places, and living in different corners of the world. It probably is not too hard to guess I enjoy traveling and learning (and trying to maintain) new languages. Otherwise my favorite activities include anything from sports and outdoors adventures to photography and some level of nerdiness. I am completely hooked to Crossfit, yoga, triathlon training as well as absolutely love mountain climbing, and donate my time for the mountain rescue.

I have spent over a decade in the hi-tech industry, working on some of the coolest technical things in the wireless world. I started at Nokia in the late 1990′s, and have been privileged to work on things that we use on daily basis in our wireless communication today. What a wild ride it has been! However, no matter how much of a tech nerd I am, I am looking forward to getting my PhD as an interdisciplinary degree combining Biology,  Computer Science, and Cognitive Sciences. For a long time I was convinced about continuing my education within the field of Psychology but eventually didn’t find it rigorous enough… apparently as a lifelong nerd I need the fair share of science, theories, numbers… I am also a professional photographer with pictures published in several newspapers & magazines, as well as occasionally shoot family portraits, high school senior pics ….

Biker Boy and Biker Chick

Jason is from the Midwest. He is making his career in the Army, and serves as an Officer. He loves adventures, traveling, all kinds of gadgets and outdoors – almost as much as he loves me :-) Hardly a month goes by without us heading out of Alaska, or exploring the paths less traveled on The Last Frontier. Oh, and he is also slowly becoming health nut …. thanks to me.

Our furry kiddo, Tassu the Beagle, is almost 7 years old little gentleman. He is master at napping but always ready to go when there is a chance to have some fun. Little doggy thinks he is ten times bigger than he actually is, loves road trips, and apparently considers Jason his best buddy. When I am looking for the dog, more than likely he is hanging out somewhere near Jason. And when the hubby is gone for the Army trainings, poor Tassu spends quite some time crying at the front door, or just keeps looking for him around the house. Those two are inseparable.
