Scarf Swap Reveal!

A while ago Allie at A Day in A Joyful Life hosted scarf swap. How awesome is that?! Getting paired up with another blogger, and sending and receiving scarves. Girl can never have too many scarves, right?!

I got paired up with Kim from Solace Amid The Chaos. She and I were complete opposites as far as our scarf wishes went, and I can’t really blame her. She preferred light, airy scarves while I have the most use for warmer ones. But who in California would like to have a heavy, woolen scarf?! While in Alaska it kinda is a must, even though we still don’t have snow and temperatures have been around 50′s lately.

Kim went above and beyond with the scarf swap – I didn’t get one but two gorgeous, handmade scarves, a hat, and lip gloss. The heavier, black woolen scarf will definitely keep me warm in Alaskan winter, while at the same time the red scarf will be an awesome accessory at work. Thank you, Kim, I absolutely love the scarves!

Fall Into Fall Swap

Neely, Erin and Tracy were hosting Fall Into Fall Swap at the end of September, and I was more than happy to join the fun. What could be more exciting than making a new friend in the Blogosphere, and exchange some cutest fall items with that person?! I was paired with Emily from Paging Dr. Grace. As busy as we both are, we were mailing the gift swap packages at the last minute…

I was super excited to see a package waiting for me on Friday from the midwest of the US. From Emily! And so I became a happy owner of some fall candies, Starbucks gift card (more Refresh tea for me, and maybe a slice of pumpkin bread!), fall themed fingertip towels, the cutest Essie nail polish “mink muffs”, and a leaf candy dish. I can’t wait to try the nail polish and head to Starbucks!

Thank You, Emily!

Fall Into Fall!

Anniversary! And A Giveaway!

Happy Anniversary to my Blog! Actually the very first posting of Adventures of The K Family went out on October 13, 2010. No matter how hard I tried to get an anniversary posting out on time on the 13th, here I am – three days late! Well, I am blaming for the school and work. And life. Sometimes one of them, or they all distract me from being a good blogger citizen.

However, it has been 166 postings since starting this blog – meaning an entry every three days. I started blogging simply for one reason – sharing news about our adventures with all the great friends who we can’t see as often as we would like.
However, I have also made a bunch of new friends in the military and fitness blogging communities. It has been a fun year of blogging, and I look forward to many more to come!

And now to the anniversary giveaway…. The giveaway is a piece of Alaska: a professional, gallery wrapped 8×10 canvas print of Autumn Colors in Denali National Park (see the image below), and it is ready to be hang on the wall as it is.

In order to participate in giveaway drawing, follow this blog (one entry), comment this blog posting (one entry), and if you mention the giveaway on your blog or tweet about it & let me know through the comments, you earn another additional entry.

The giveaway will be open until 23:59 (Alaska time) October 29, 2011.

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In #56

September. Already. It has been such a busy week, and I am almost dreading next week when I am practically flying from one place to another. We are heading to sunny California for the Labor Day weekend, then return home just to grab another suitcase and sleep for a few hours before being on the plane again.

The university started this week too. So far so good – I am greatly enjoying my research and lab classes. The only hiccup is a textbook on one of the online classes. The eBook should be available online but accessing it has turned out to be a serious headache. Hopefully teaching assistant and professor figure out what to do sometime in near future…

But now it is time for every Friday tradition — MilSpouse Friday Fill-In by Wife of A Sailor!

1. My plans for this weekend include traveling to San Diego, but what I’d really like to do is nothing else – this was our Labor Day weekend plan!

2. I consider the Labor Day holiday as start of fall. It actually has felt like fall in Alaska already for a little while.

3. My favorite meal for cookouts is anything healthy, but my friends or husband wouldn’t agree.

4. So far, my favorite part of summer has been our wedding! It has been a great summer overall though!

5. When it comes to deployments, my philosophy is to them one at a time, day by day.

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In #55

End of August – almost! Yesterday I saw Halloween candies at the Commissary, so the fall is coming here, for sure. And I can’t do anything to stop it. Once the Pumpkin Spiced Latte arrives at Starbucks, it’s official — we are sliding towards the winter.

It has been another busy week here in the Last Frontier. While I have been drowning in the work and Ironman training, hubby has been TDY’ing in sunny and warm Hawaii. Lucky him! My business meetings take me to the northernmost town of the US and he is lucky enough to travel to Oahu. Oh well, we will be heading to Hawaii together in a few short weeks.

But let’s go to the main topic of this posting — MilSpouse Friday Fill-In, provided by Wife of A Sailor!

1. The first thing I think of when I get up in the morning is “what is my CrossFit workout today?”.

2. Lately, I’ve been craving blueberries because it’s the berry season here in Alaska.

3. Whenever anyone says the word horse or horseback riding, it reminds me of my childhood because I grew up by riding and hanging out with horses.

4. The happiest word I know is  love, but it is not always used honestly and from the heart.

5. My spouse may hate it, but I absolutely love healthy food and vegetables.
