Another try for a weblog… I used to have a blog when I lived in Washington State but the time – actually lack of it – didn’t really help to keep it updated. But here I am again, trying to make this a permanent habit and share our news from The Last Frontier, or wherever our adventures will take us.
That being said, welcome to be part of our adventures!
It has been very busy start of October. We had friends from Lower 48 visiting us,which was so much fun. Alaska is such an extraordinary place on earth but also on the other hand very far away from everything and everyone else, so it is refreshing to have people stopping by. Also, October is definitely a month for midterm exams; even though I am working full-time, I am also taking 15 credits at UAA, and trying to wrap up my BSc in Psychology as soon as possible so that I can get into Grad school sooner than later.
J and I took our friends to Seward on Sunday – it was a fun-filled day including lots of photography and trail riding. We got very lucky, and a local trail riding business took four of us out for a ride even though their official season was over already. Riding was a blast, horses were awesome and the weather absolutely gorgeous! Then on Monday we did a little glacier adventure and hiked to Byron Glacier just outside Portage. Although it was a real adventure to our dog who slipped and fell into ice cold glacier stream when he tried to follow me on slippery rocks. Poor little beagle! But he survived, was shaking from the cold for a little while, and then ready to go again. Needless to say that he was one tired dog after a long day.
It was a great long weekend, now it is back to the “normal life” again – the rest of the week will be work, house chores and textbooks.
